If your animal's life is at risk and we can't reach you, we get them to a vet first and update you the moment we have a phone in hand. We carry a printed list of every 24-hour emergency vet in the Santa Fe area on every sit, so we're never scrambling for a number when it matters. Our service terms authorise us to act up to $500 without reaching you first, and you accept those terms when you book — so the authorisation is already in place before we ever hold your key.

On an overnight sit we stay in your home the whole time — not a string of drop-ins. Your house doesn't sit empty for anyone watching the block, and your pets get company, not just meals. We work hard at a rule of never leaving your animals alone more than about four hours, and most days it's far less. If your pet needs someone there essentially around the clock — a puppy, a senior dog, a post-op recovery — tell us at the meet & greet and we'll be straight about whether we can do it that week.

Nothing is charged until you've met us in person and decided we're the right fit. After that we send a secure payment link for a 50% deposit, which holds your dates, and the balance is due when your stay ends. We'd rather you decide after you've met us — that's why the meet & greet comes before any money does.

It's a free visit at your home, about 20 minutes. You walk us through feeding routines, where things live, the quirks of your animals and your security setup. Your pets meet us. We answer anything you want to ask. By the end you'll know whether we're a fit, and so will we. No pressure either way.

House sits are $150 a night and include up to two pets. Drop-in visits are $40 for 30 minutes or $70 for an hour, also including up to two pets. Extra pets are a flat add-on — cats +$5 a visit or +$10 a night, dogs +$10 a visit or +$20 a night, and a small-animal group such as a flock or a hutch counts as one pet. A holiday surcharge of $15 a night or $10 a visit applies on twelve named holidays. The full rate card is on our pricing page.

Both. An overnight house sit means we stay in your home for the length of the booking, which is what most clients want. For animals that don't need someone there full-time we offer drop-in visits of 30 minutes or an hour, once up to three times a day — feeding, medication, litter, a walk, or just company. Want us to walk your dog(s) for you? Schedule a drop in visit. For three or more pets, or a mixed household, choose the hour so nothing gets rushed.

Fourteen or more days before the start, your deposit is refunded in full minus a $15 processing fee. Seven to thirteen days, half your deposit is refunded. Less than seven days, the deposit isn't refunded — but that's the extent of it; we don't come after the remaining balance. Prefer to pay in full up front instead of a deposit? That's fine too. Genuine emergencies — medical, family, weather — are handled case by case. We'd rather work something out than enforce a contract.

We're there, which is most of the answer. Burst pipe, power cut, alarm at 3am — we handle what we can, call whoever needs calling, and call you. At the meet & greet we'll ask for your plumber, your electrician and anyone else you'd want us to reach, and we keep that list with us for the stay.

For house sits, yes. Anywhere we can reasonably drive — Taos, Jemez and similar — we ask for a two-night minimum. Beyond driving distance it's a five-night minimum with travel covered. Drop-in visits stay local to Santa Fe and the surrounding communities.

Just a bath — we're not groomers, so no cuts and no nail trims — but plenty of clients like coming home to a clean dog after a long trip. Ask us and we'll quote it as part of your stay.

Sometimes. We take a small number of clients, so last-minute is possible when the calendar allows and impossible when it doesn't. Text us for the fastest answer — email works too, we just may take a little longer to see it.

Not right now — these days it's mostly a big garden, our own produce and, depending on the season, more hummingbirds than we can count. We think that's a strength: we're not splitting our attention with pets of our own, and we're not bringing another animal's scent into your pet's space. Between us we've owned dogs, cats, gerbils, fish and a ferret over the years, and we have hands-on experience with rabbits, chickens, ducks and goats.

We almost never do — that's the whole point of taking a small number of clients, and we've never failed to show up for a booking we accepted. If something genuinely unavoidable came up, we'd tell you the moment we knew, return any payment in full, and help you find someone we trust. No drama, no spin.
